Cuban Sculptor Villa Soberon also Works in Gold, Silver and Bronze

Havana- The Cuban sculptor Jose Villa Soberon exhibits in this capital the items that resulted from smithing gold, silver and bronze, a little known aspect of his work.

Villa Soberon, winner of the 2008 National Plastic Arts Award, now aims at exploring new aspects of art with the exhibit 'Espirales', which is shown at the Victor Manuel art gallery.

For the first time the public will enjoy his gold items. According to Villa Soberon, he hopes that these items could be reproduced and used by the people.

Well-known in Cuba and in other countries for his monumental sculptures, Villa Soberon is president of the Association of Plastic Arts of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba.

His small-format works are included in collections in Cuba, United States, Germany, Brazil, Canada, Poland, Hungary, Egypt, Russia, France, Costa Rica, Italy, Argentina and Mexico.

Among his most important sculptures are included the ones dedicated to Mother Teresa of Calcutta, to John Lennon, to El Caballero de Paris, and to Ernest Hemingway and Benny More.
